Extraordinary mountain experiences.
We stand for days in the terrain that are well-planned, feel good, and remain in your memory for a long time. Our focus is on personal support, honest assessment, and a respectful approach to nature, conditions, and people.
We work in small groups, take time for flexible planning, and focus on quality instead of quantity. Whether on skis, with a bike, or in high alpine terrain, our aim is to create experiences that are coherent and suited to the respective conditions and participants. Not higher, faster, or more extreme at any cost, but conscious, focused, and with joy in outdoor activity.
Flat Sucks is not an anonymous provider, but a grown team of mountain and ski guides, bike guides, and coaches who take their work seriously and know exactly why they are out there.
Our philosophy
Good guiding begins long before the tour. With honest communication, realistic planning, and the willingness to constantly reassess decisions. Terrain, weather, and snow conditions change, and so does the right approach.
We believe in development through experience. In learning in the field instead of in the textbook. And that safety and enjoyment of the sport are not opposites, but reinforce each other.
We are not about pushing someone to do something, but about creating a framework in which people feel comfortable, progress, and can gather real experiences.
We do not work according to rigid programs, but react to situations, groups, and conditions. That is what makes good guiding, and that is what we value.
Our Team
Markus Emprechtinger
Mountain & Ski Guide | MTB Guide | Founder Flat Sucks
Markus is the founder of Flat Sucks and has been working as a mountain and ski guide and bike guide for many years. His focus is on freeriding, ski tours, alpine ventures, and challenging bike trips. With a calm manner, clear decisions, and a lot of experience, he creates a framework in which guests can move safely and develop further.
Sabine Schipflinger
Ski Guide | MTB Guide
She grew up in Viehhofen, a small village just outside Saalbach Hinterglemm, and moved to Innsbruck to study sports science. She prefers to be out and about with skis, bikes or climbing shoes, but also likes to bake cakes, because no day on the mountain is complete without snacks. Through her work as a freelance ski guide, trainer in the ski instructor association and mountain bike guide, she enjoys passing on her knowledge, passion and enthusiasm to like-minded people or those who want to become like-minded.
Livia Fabbris
Bike School Manager | MTB Guide
As the head of our bike school in Innsbruck, she is happy to answer all your questions. If she doesn’t answer immediately, she’s probably out on the trails herself. Either privately or with one of our courses. You will also meet her on many of our trips.
Matthias Knaus
Mountain & Ski Guide | Travel Specialist
I am neither an outstanding alpinist, skier, or climber. I get up the things I set out to do and ideally ski back down. My focus during guided tours is on the people, their needs and wishes. Empathy is not a foreign word to me and I always appreciate it when people meet on a human level in addition to the nature and sports experience – because that’s when I can bring my full potential to bear and enjoy it together. Besides nature and mountains, I also like cities, woodworking and good food.

Airy ridges, powder snow & café!
Felix Norzel
Bike Guide
Felix has been at home in mountain sports since he was a child and has been living in Innsbruck for several years. As a bike guide and ski instructor, he prefers to be out and about. He started early to share his passion as a guide and trainer with mountain enthusiastic people – because for him it is clear: mountain sports only make sense and fun together.
Max Hilger
Bike Guide
He has been sharing his passion for mountain biking with great enthusiasm for as long as he can remember. He particularly enjoys accompanying transalpine tours and technique courses, where he enjoys seeing the progress and growing confidence of the participants. He also enjoys kids’ courses. Besides biking, Max is active in all alpine mountain sports – the main thing is to be outside and on the mountain.
Patrick Ribis
Mountain & Ski Guide | Bike Guide | Trail Builder
Since 2008 in search of the best powder. Patrick knows Tyrol like the back of his hand, skis and snowboards and knows exactly where the good terrain is hidden. As an experienced freeride guide, he brings his guests safely to the best lines – and incidentally ensures a good atmosphere on the mountain. If you are looking for deep snow, he is the right person to contact.
What makes Flat Sucks special
