Elba Trail Week

Elba is more than just biking

Elba, an enchanting island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, not only attracts visitors with its breathtaking mountain landscapes and excellent mountain biking opportunities, but also offers a fascinating variety of cultural treasures and historical sites.

One of the most remarkable historical elements of Elba is undoubtedly its connection to Napoleon Bonaparte, who resided here during his exile in 1814. His legacy is omnipresent, especially in Portoferraio, the island’s capital. The Napoleonic Museum in Portoferraio houses an impressive collection of memorabilia and artifacts from this period and provides an insight into the life of the famous Frenchman on the island.

Elba is also characterized by historic fortresses, including the imposing Forte Falcone and Forte Stella, which once served to protect the island. These impressive buildings not only offer exciting insights into military history, but also spectacular views of the sea and the surrounding landscape.

Another interesting aspect of the island’s history are the former iron ore mines, which had an important economic impact on the region. Today, visitors can explore the traces of this mining tradition in the mines of Rio nell’Elba and Capoliveri. These historical sites give an insight into the hard work of the miners and the importance of mining for the history of Elba.

In addition to all these cultural attractions, Elba also offers a rich culinary scene where you can enjoy local delicacies such as fresh fish dishes and the delicious Elba wine. All in all, Elba is a fascinating destination that will delight both history buffs and nature lovers.

After many years of bike guiding experience (over 50 Transalps) now fully in the mountain guide business. Markus is an all-rounder, whether with bike, ice tools, climbing pads or skis, he has fun everywhere. That’s why flatsucks, as long as the terrain isn’t flat, nothing stands in the way of a good day. Besides mountain sports, there is also photography. Of course, the guests benefit from this as well, because neat pictures of eventful tours are already a cool thing.

The journey

We offer a convenient shared travel option from Innsbruck. The meeting point for our group is at the front of the Stubai, where we have our spacious shuttle bus ready for you. On departure, your bikes will be carefully loaded onto our trailer, which we will be using for the whole week on the island anyway. Of course, the meeting point is also accessible by public transport and offers secure parking facilities for your cars.

This travel method has numerous advantages. On the one hand, your journey will be much more pleasant, as you will not only be traveling in good company, but will also benefit from the amenities of our comfortable shuttle bus. It is also an opportunity to get to know the other participants on the trip in advance.

Another advantage of this journey is the financial savings. You don’t have to pay tolls and ferry fees and also save on gasoline and fuel costs. This not only saves you money, but also helps to protect the environment. Instead of five single-passenger cars, we use an efficient minibus, which significantly minimizes the ecological footprint of our tour group.
